'Winter's Song' by Lost Children is a music video I produced, directed and managed with a production schedule that spanned over the course of 16 months. My concept was ambitious, involving all 4 seasons, and the production involved motorcycle scenes (for which our lead actor / musician obtained his motorcycle license to perform), working with children and animals, and shooting underwater.
I managed 13 crew members in rotating production cycles that spanned over the course of 16 months. Along with my co-producer and business partner, Rich Joneleit, I scouted locations, coordinated equipment, location and transportation rentals, and worked with our crews to plan and organize the production. My primary role for this project, however, was directing. I created the concept after researching several fashion and film influences for everything from art direction to editing, in order to create a unique concept with a distinct style and fashion-forward undertones.
To pitch the concept to our client / musician, Lost Children (a solo project led by Avery Brooks), I used photos and video from stock websites and some of my influences to edit together a pre-visualization / video treatment. Our client loved it, so off we went with the production, beginning with the performance shoot in November of 2015. The process wasn't easy -- for example, we didn't get snow as expected that winter and therefore had to postpone the Winter shoot for a year -- but we managed to get through financial, coordination and timing challenges, finally wrapping in February of 2017. There were 5 shoots in total -- each was one day except for shoot #2, which was a 2-day shoot.
